The Cleveland Browns entered 2020 with extremely high expectations. In Week 1, though, they met the juggernaut Baltimore Ravens. In turn, it ended pretty poorly for Cleveland, as they suffered a 38-6 beating.
Obviously, this was not the start anyone in the organization was hoping for. It brings up a lot of questions.; may of those same questions that they had last year, too.
Is Baker Mayfield the answer at quarterback? Do the weapons they have work in the offense? Is the defense good enough to keep them in games?
Well according to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, Mayfield is not focused on any of the outside noise. Instead, he is focused on what he can control. And that is a “natural” connection with Browns superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at the moment.

Beckham also spoke to reporters Tuesday and said of Mayfield that it’s “not feasible for me to think about what he may be going through” because he’s never played quarterback. He does think that “more game reps will be the way to go” to get on the same page and they’ll get them quickly with a game on tap against the Bengals Thursday.”
Baker Mayfield completed 21-of-39 pass attempts for just 189 yards and one touchdown (one interception) on Sunday.
The even worse news was his work with Beckham in the game. Mayfield connected with Beckham Jr. on just three of the 10 targets thrown his way. Those three receptions came out to 22 yards and no touchdowns for the wide receiver.
Those aren't great numbers for anyone, let alone someone many consider to be one of the very best in the game.
If the Browns expect to win moving forward, they will need their quarterback and superstar wide receiver on the same page. So while Week 1 was rough, hopefully it serves as a catalyst for the rest of the season. Let's see if Mayfield and Beckham Jr. can get on the same page as the season rolls on.
