The Cleveland Browns made a very bold decision by giving Deshaun Watson a guaranteed $230 million contract a few months ago, despite the ongoing legal case he's involved in. While he has reached settlements with 20 of the 24 accusers, it appears the Browns organization never even cared to discuss his saga before deciding to sign him.

Also referenced in lawsuit: “Despite claims that it did extensive due diligence, not one question was asked by Watson’s new employer  (Browns) of the victims about Watson’s alleged behavior. No effort was made to obtain the police file, or speak to the investigating officers…

This is truly shocking. One would've only assumed the Browns did their due diligence before deciding to bring in the former Houston Texans signal-caller, considering the numerous charges he was facing stemming from massage therapist encounters.

Watson could potentially be in the clear in regards to actually being found guilty. There are no guarantees, but it's possible. That being said, the NFL is most certainly going to slap him with a suspension, which means he may miss a handful of games for the Browns or possibly even the entire season.

The league has reportedly wrapped up its investigation and will be announcing their decision soon. But, this is a very bad look for Cleveland. Hopefully, it doesn't go down as one of the worst signings in the history of the sport. We'll see.
