Fox Sports Radio personality Colin Cowherd appears to have an issue with the “inconsistent personality” of Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
The rookie quarterback has had some impressive outings since taking over for Tyrod Taylor earlier in the season.
Mayfield had two of his best games in back-to-back weeks before struggling in a 29-13 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 13. He threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10 before going for 258 yards and four touchdowns in the Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He didn't throw any interceptions during that stretch, but apparently, his season-high three picks against the Texans was enough to irk Cowherd.
Here's what Cowherd had to say about the Browns' rookie on Wednesday:
“Baker Mayfield had three good games against atrocious defenses, he was in the news for three weeks. He got clobbered this weekend against Houston and he goes and hides. That's an inconsistent personality. That's my problem.”
Even if Cowherd isn't buying Mayfield as a future star in the NFL, the Browns have to be more than happy with the rookie's overall performance in his first season.
He came in right away and had great command of the offense, and while the Browns have still won only four games, the team has much more of a rhythm offensively.
Mayfield will get a chance to prove himself even further down the stretch, as he'll hit the road to play two quality defenses in Denver and Baltimore while going up against Carolina on Sunday.
