Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd thinks that the best NFL landing spot for Alabama head coach Nick Saban would be with the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are set to embark on a very important offseason, and most people understood that right after the team fired former head coach Hue Jackson earlier in the season.

Since that point, Cleveland has shown flashes of potential in moving to 6-7-1 on the season after last week's 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos, and the improved play makes the new coaching hire even more crucial.

And Cowherd seems to believe that should Saban choose to return to the NFL ranks, the best spot for him would be with Baker Mayfield and the Browns.

Here's what Cowherd had to say during his show on Wednesday:

Of course, Saban is no stranger to the Browns, as he was there from 1991 to 1994 as the team's defensive coordinator before taking the Michigan State head coaching job.

And since Saban has had so much success with the Crimson Tide, his name is always going to pop up in NFL coaching searches.

It's anyone's guess as to whether he will eventually return to the pros, but Cowherd isn't exactly off base when he talks about the potential fit.

Believe it not, the Browns job is more intriguing now than it's been in many years, and a lot has to do with a talented quarterback like Mayfield under center. Cleveland also has a defense that has a solid foundation, so it's not like this team is at the bottom of the league like it has been for many years.

With Mayfield's abilities and a solid core around him, the Browns have to get this next hire right if they want to have a shot at rising up the AFC North ladder.

The chances of it being Saban seem pretty low, but there should be plenty of interested candidates due to the team's recent upswing.
