Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward secured the bag on Monday, signing a five-year, $100.5 million extension. That makes him the highest-paid CB in NFL history, just narrowly edging out Jalen Ramsey.

On Wednesday, Ward spoke to the media and expressed his excitement after putting pen to paper on this brand new contract.

Ward is one of the best cornerbacks in the game and now he's being paid like it by the Browns. The All-Pro defender tweeted this out after receiving the big payday:

“Loss of words, I'm blessed,” Ward tweeted Monday. “I want to thank the Haslams, (executive vice president) JW Johnson, (general manager) Andrew Berry, coach (Kevin) Stefanski, and the rest of the Browns organization for continuing to believe in the homegrown kid and allowing me to represent this organization and city of Cleveland where I'm from.”

The former Ohio State standout was solid in 2021, registering 43 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and three interceptions in 15 contests. Ward is a huge reason the Browns ranked fifth in pass defense as well en route to making his second Pro Bowl.

It's certainly awesome that he's Cleveland bred and is now playing for his hometown team and thriving. Let's hope Denzel Ward returns the favor and balls out again in 2022.
