The moment the Cleveland Browns started to labor through games, fans thought that it was only a matter of time until Odell Beckham Jr. started speaking out. And when he did talk about Freddie Kitchens' less-than-desirable playcalling, the rookie head coach had no choice but to respond.

OBJ said the Browns offense was playing scared against the New England Patriots, giving Tom Brady and his red-hot offense all the time they need to finish on top of the Browns.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:

“I just felt like we didn’t challenge as much as we could have,” Beckham told reporters in reference to cornerback Stephon Gilmore holding Beckham to five catches for 52 yards on seven targets. “I think we kind of shied away from it. I was expecting and looking forward to it, but that wasn’t the case today.”

This was the opportunity for Kitchens to put Beckham in line and respond. However, Florio recorded a somewhat strange, roundabout answer from Kitchens:

“Odell had seven balls thrown to him,” Kitchens told reporters in response to a question regarding Beckham’s comments. “He caught five of them. I am not responding to that. We need to win a football game. That is what I am worried about.”

The Browns are currently 2-5, and relief for their unbearable losing streak seems to be nowhere in sight. Baker Mayfield has struggled to replicate his incredible rookie performance. While Beckham and Jarvis Landry are doing everything they can on the receiving end, there's only so much they can do.

Something must change within the way the Browns approach their games or they will be known as one of the most disappointing teams of the season.
