Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb went down early in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys with a knee injury, and now he will miss at least three weeks of action.

TheBrowns placed Chubb on Injured Reserve after MRI's revealed a sprained MCL, per head coach Kevin Stefanski.

However, the Browns coach also iterated the injury was not of the “season-ending” variety.

This is a blow to the Browns running game.

Chubb had been one of the most effective runners in football through the first three weeks after finishing last season as the second-leading rusher in the NFL. The former Georgia Bulldog rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns in both Week 2 and Week 3, and was also averaging close to 6.0 yards per carry.

It seemed Chubb was bound for another big game against the Cowboys. He churned out 43 yards on six carries, seemingly getting big chunks every time he touched the ball.

Incidentally, Chubb was injured when Cowboys defensive lineman Trysten Hill–who was involved in an incident with Seattle Seahawks back Chris Carson last week–landed on his leg.

The move to IR means Chubb will be forced out of at least the next three games for the Browns, though doctors believe he could miss six weeks, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Cleveland will turn to Kareem Hunt to fill the feature back role. Though Chubb has been the leading rusher, Hunt has put his own stamp on the season. The former Kansas City Chiefs standout has rushed for 275 yards and three scores while averaging 5.5 yards per carry.
