Michael Thomas — not the New Orleans Saints receiver, but the New York Giants safety — knows Odell Beckham well.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has never shied away from the spotlight. He has always been a polarizing player. He caught a lot of flack for his antics on the field that have been labeled immature at times. But just because Beckham was the target of frequent media criticism during his time with the Giants doesn't mean he wasn't well-liked in the locker room.

During a recent interview with Sirius XM NFL radio, Giants safety Michael Thomas sought to clear the air about his former teammate. “He was a great teammate, a great locker room guy,” Thomas declared.

Thomas insisted the trade from the Giants to the Browns wasn't because of anything Beckham did wrong, and that both sides are moving on.

“For whatever reason, it didn’t work out. The Giants had a direction they wanted to go in. Hopefully, he finds what he was looking for in Cleveland. Both sides are ready to move on. It is what it is. I wish him nothing but the best. I love the way our locker room, our team is vibing right now. It’s a great culture fit. We’re ready to rock and get ready for this 2019 season,” he explained.

Thomas continued to talk about what Beckham was like in the locker room, saying “he was a great teammate, like one of the best teammates you could ever ask for, especially somebody of his caliber. We’re talking about one of the modern-day rock stars. He was of a different caliber, but for someone of his stature, he was very approachable in the locker room.”

A modern-day rock star is probably a good way of describing Beckham. He has become one of the game's most iconic players, and brings a considerable level of excitement wherever he goes. He's a great source of energy, and he should keep things interesting in Cleveland all the time.
