The Cleveland Browns are still waiting for the NFL's decision on Deshaun Watson's punishment amid the sexual misconduct allegations thrown against the QB. However, the team is already preparing in case the signal-caller is given a lengthy suspension.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns have a plan in place in the scenario that the NFL slaps Watson with an indefinite suspension or the full season. Jacoby Brissett is expected to take over if that happens, but Cleveland is hoping to sign a backup to assist him.

With training camp beginning July 27, the Browns are hoping for a decision sooner than later so they can plan accordingly. If Watson is out for a lengthy period of time, they’ll will sign a quarterback to back up interim starter Jacoby Brissett.

Certainly, though, the Browns are praying that it'll be a light punishment as recent rumors suggest. For what it's worth, the NFL Players Association has been pushing for no disciplinary action at all “based in part on the fact that several NFL owners haven’t been suspended for their direct or indirect involvement in sexual misconduct,” per Cabot.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Deshaun Watson, but a decision should come out soon given how close training camp is. Sure enough, the NFL and NFLPA want it resolve as well and not let it drag any longer.

Once the decision on Watson is out, then the Browns and the fanbase can get more clarity on the next steps for the franchise.
