Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians stunned the NFL with the news of his retirement from coaching. Shortly after the announcement, Arians released a statement via the team's website.

“The simple answer is that I have accomplished more than I ever dreamed I could during this incredible coaching journey. Winning Super Bowl LV at our home stadium, with my mom and family in attendance, was really the last item I wanted to check off my career bucket list. For me, this is about more than just trying to add more wins to my coaching record.

“This team is in a much better place than it was three years ago due to Jason's great work and the Glazer family's commitment to winning. Before you start thinking this is about my health, don't. This is the best I have felt in many years and I'm looking forward to helping this team continue winning through my new role.

Arians clarified the reasoning behind his retirement decision. The veteran head coach considers the Buccaneers' Super Bowl victory with the team in their home stadium to be the “last item on his career bucket list.”

The former Buccaneers head coach also put to rest the idea that his retirement decision was made due to health reasons. Arians also mentioned that he wanted to leave new head coach Todd Bowles with the best possible team for a chance at success.

Buccaneers fans will miss Arians pacing the sidelines, though the team figures to remain competitive with Tom Brady under center and Bowles leading the talented defense. Not only that, but Arians' shrewd eye will be observing from the front office.
