The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may not have anything to play for in Week 15, and they don't have their best receiver ready to play against the Detroit Lions. However, this is the opportunity for Chris Godwin to shine and establish a new legacy with his team.

He's likely going to get targeted plenty of times since Mike Evans is not going to be available for this game. The Pro Bowler injured his hamstring in Week 14, giving the third-year wideout the opportunity to become the number one receiving option for the Tampa Bay offense.

Bucs Wire's Colin Liotta shared that the Penn State product is on the verge of beating his own teammate's record on reception yards over a single season.

And, with just three games left to play, Godwin finds himself just 313 receiving yards shy of Mike Evans’ single-season record of 1,524 yards, set just last year. That means, Godwin needs to average just over 104.3 yards per game over the last three weeks.

He's played fantastic football this season, notching 1212 receiving yards and nine touchdowns over the 13 games he's played. He has shown that he has the physical tools required to succeed in the position, and he will likely get the record if he gets his way.

After all, all of the opponents they will be facing in the remaining games of the season aren't the toughest opponents. Besides Detroit, the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons offer opportunities for him to ball out.

It's going to be up to Godwin whether he manages to break the record or not. After all, the stage has been set for him.
