The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected linebacker Devin White out of LSU with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

However, they haven't gotten to see all that much of him.

After a solid Week 1 performance against the San Francisco 49ers, White suffered a sprain to his MCL in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers.

He's now officially been ruled out for a Week 3 contest with the New York Giants on Sunday according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

This comes despite Tampa Bay's Week 2 contest coming during Thursday Night Football. That meant that White had more than a full week to recover.

Taking his place will be Kevin Minter. Also an LSU product, Minter was a second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals back in 2013.

He had some really solid seasons with the Cardinals but is more of a special teams guy now.

That being said, Minter played really well in the Week 2 game when filling in for White. He recorded nine tackles, second-most on the team behind only Vernon Hargreaves.

It's a shame that White is out, as we now won't get the chance to see the number five overall pick going up against the sixth overall pick.

Quarterback Daniel Jones is making his first career start for the Giants in Week 3, and it would've been fun to see the rookie quarterback and the rookie linebacker square off.

However, they should both have nice long careers. This likely won't be the only chance to see the two in action.

It's not fair to speculate with the injury, but MCL sprains can get nasty. Hopefully, White is back soon and continues to build on a strong start to his NFL career.
