Could defensive lineman Gerald McCoy have played his last game as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

No one knows for sure, but the current situation with McCoy is becoming more and more odd as time passes.

The veteran has not been with the Buccaneers since voluntary offseason workouts began a couple of weeks ago, which is right in line with the chatter that Tampa Bay could end up parting ways with him.

McCoy has a non-guaranteed salary of $13 million for 2019, and new Bucs head coach Bruce Arians has sounded very non-committal when talking about the former Pro Bowler.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht would not say one way or another whether or not McCoy would be back this season, also saying that people would “have to ask Bruce” when the topic of Arians' concern for McCoy's enthusiasm for the game came up, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Last month, Arians said that McCoy is not as disruptive as he once was but that he would be “fine” coaching him if his heart was still in it:

“It’s very hard because we can’t get in pads,” Arians said of McCoy's motivation, per Greg Auman of The Tampa Bay Times. “You still see it. You still see his enthusiasm for the game. If he still has all that, I’m fine. As a coach, I coach who I’ve got. I coach the guys that are there.”

That is not exactly a ringing endorsement, so it remains to be seen what the future holds for McCoy in Tampa Bay.
