The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to decide on whether or not to re-sign Jameis Winston this upcoming offseason. Heading into the final week of the regular season, Winston and Tampa Bay have not talked about a contract extension yet.

Before last year, the Buccaneers exercised Winston's fifth-year option to keep him with the team through the 2019 season. As a result, the sporadic quarterback could be headed towards free agency if the Buccaneers don't extend an offer.

It was reported last week that the Buccaneers plan on using the franchise tag or transition tag on Winston. Following last week's win over the Houston Texans, Bruce Arians denied the reports that the Buccaneers already decided on Winston's future with the team.

Considering where the quarterback market stands, Winston could command a lucrative contract in free agency. But it remains to be seen if the fifth-year veteran even gets a chance to test the open market.

This season, Winston has thrown for 4,908 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. While he has career highs in passing yards and touchdowns, he also has thrown a league-high 28 interceptions.

Winston could become the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season. The former No. 1 overall pick just needs two more interceptions to achieve that feat. Provided his current contract situation, it's ideal for Winston to avoid throwing any more interceptions.

Winston's decision-making (or lack thereof) has put his future with the franchise in question. Even if the team doesn't sign him to a long-term deal, a short-term contract could be in store for the 25-year-old quarterback this offseason.
