The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced star wide receiver Mike Evans is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians previously stated Evans had a “soft tissue” injury and would be listed as day-to-day prior to Sunday's marquee matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

But Tampa Bay fans might have reason to be concerned. As ESPN's Adam Schefter noted, a hamstring malady is what sidelined Evans late in the 2019 campaign.

Granted, the Buccaneers have yet to send Evans to the injured reserved list. Still, might he already be dealing with physical limitations?

The 27-year-old battled through injuries last season, finishing the year with 67 catches (eight touchdowns) and 1,157 yards receiving in just 13 games. Evans figures to be a central figure in Tampa Bay's offense, especially with a new man under center.

Tom Brady's decision to sign with the Bucs made them a possible Super Bowl candidate. It also prompted all kinds of offensive possibilities.

Arians' “air raid” scheme has done wonders for veteran quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger and Carson Palmer. Given the talent at the skill positions, it would seem Brady and the Bucs could put up a lot of points this year.

But the offense will certainly take a hit should Evans be unable to suit up. Aside from missing his marquee talents, the Buccaneers also lack depth in the receiving corps.

Chris Godwin has emerged as one of the top wideouts in the NFL, but Tampa Bay also lost Breshad Perriman in the offseason. As a result, both Justin Watson and Jaydon Mickens—mostly a return specialist—could be forced into action.

Bucs fans will hope Evans' hamstring issue is but a blip on the radar as Tampa Bay's offense looks to make a statement on Sunday.
