Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are 3-point favorites over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unless the line makes drastic changes, this will only be the second time that a Brady team will be an underdog in his 10 Super Bowl appearances. The first came in 2002 when the New England Patriots bested the  St. Louis Rams.

Super Bowl 55 will be played at Raymond James Stadium, which is also the home of the Buccaneers, but as the early odds suggest, it appears that Tampa Bay won't enjoy home-field advantage in the eyes of oddsmakers. This is only the second appearance of the Bucs on the big stage. Brady at 43 is the oldest player to play in the Super Bowl.

A Tampa Bay victory will be a disaster for several sportsbooks. There was a time when the Bucs had 40-1 odds to raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy. When rumors in March started swirling that Brady was leaving the Patriots, bets for the Buccaneers increased. Odds rose to around 16-1 when the Brady signing was finalized. People continued to bet on them thereafter to the point that more money had been placed on the Bucs than any other sports team in many sportsbooks.

Despite this, Kansas City exceeded them in the number of bets and money placed. Nonetheless, sportsbooks still have a great liability with a Buccaneers win. This was confirmed by the likes of DraftKings' Johnny Avello and Jason Scott, vice president of trading for BetMGM.
