The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were denied a chance at defending their Super Bowl crown, losing to the Los Angeles Rams 30-27. In the loss, Bucs quarterback Tom Brady was flagged for his first career personal foul. He was seen screaming in referee Shawn Hochuli's face.

According to NBC Sports' Mike Florio, Hochuli was quoted saying Brady “got in my face in an aggressive manner and used abusive language.” The FOX Sports broadcast showed a slo-mo video of Brady screaming at the referee, prompting the flag. It appeared as though he used profane language.

While on his “Let's Go” podcast, Brady acknowledged he used abusive language, but said that it was not profane.

“And I’ve done that literally a thousand times over the course of my career and never got called. In this instance, before I could realize it, the flag was thrown. And I was looking at the guy like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I didn’t cuss, I didn’t do any of those things. . . .”

The Buccaneers QB was left with a bloody lip following a big hit. Rams defensive lineman Von Miller came off the edge and hit Brady squarely in the chest. The hit appeared to send his face guard into his face, but Miller himself did not hit Brady's face mask.

Brady clearly did not see it that way, saying “I obviously felt like I got hit on the chin, and I felt like he missed in the end a clear penalty… So I screamed at him to throw the flag, and he did. But I guess I need to be more specific with who he needs to throw the flag on. So I’ve got a nice bruise under my chin. . . . It is the first time in 22 years to get flagged. That was pretty comical to me.”
