After signing free agent big man DeMarcus Cousins over the weekend, the Milwaukee Bucks are not wasting time getting him acclimated to the team.

According to Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer, he expects Cousins to be ready to play and make his 2021-22 season debut on Wednesday when they play the Charlotte Hornets, per Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

DeMarcus Cousins signed a one-year deal with the Bucks after failing to find a team before the start of the 2021-22 season. He split the past 2020-21 season with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 8.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

The Cousins signing is deemed as the Bucks' solution to fill the gaping hole left by the injured Brook Lopez on their rotation. Lopez has played only in the season opener and has been sidelined ever since because of a bothersome back injury.

As Giannis Antetokounmpo said before, they're missing Lopez rebounding and floor-spacing ability with his 3-point shot. With Cousins, the Bucks are hoping they could solve those issues.

“But, for sure, I need Brook to get back. I need Brook to get back,” Antetokounmpo said last October, per The Athletic. “Brook, I don’t know, maybe you are at home right now, Brook, please come back. We need you to rebound the ball, brother.”

Cousins isn't expected to immediately make a big impact in his first game, but the Bucks are certainly expecting him to get things going as soon as possible as they try to defend their title.
