Milwaukee Bucks stud Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the fastest rising stars in the NBA today. So much so, that former All-Star Tim Hardaway Sr. believes that the 24-year-old is already primed to raise the MVP trophy by the end of this season.

In a recent interview, the 52-year-old explained why in his mind, Giannis is currently the favorite to win the Most Valuable Player award this year.

“Oh man, you know right now, you've gotta say Giannis is the frontrunner because of what he's doing and how he's taking his team to another level,” said Hardaway, via Amulya Shekhar of sportskeeda.

However, despite his unwavering belief in the youngster, Hardaway shared a caveat that he believes the young Bucks talent needs to be wary of.

“But he still has to trust his team,” added Hardaway. “When he gets into the lane, he's still gotta find those guys to make shots at the end of the game. He just can't say ‘It's on me, it's on me, it's on me.' He's gotta make plays. It's on him to make plays, to dunk on people and do other things, but he's still gotta trust his teammates.”

Hardaway does make a lot of sense here. While the Bucks star is undoubtedly one of the most gifted athletes we've come across in recent years, this does not take a way from the fact that he will need his teammates to win. And in the race for MVP, winning is definitely an important barometer for success.
