Giannis Antetokounmpo and O.J. Mayo played together for a couple of years with the Milwaukee Bucks. Even though Mayo was suspended by the NBA because of a failed drug test, it seems like the former teammates are still in touch.

Sunday, The Greek Freak expressed his pleasure with working out with the 2008 third overall pick.

Mayo signed with a Puerto Rican team earlier this year, but he was released this summer. After being let go by his team in Puerto Rico, Mayo is still on his journey back to basketball's biggest stage.

Mayo was released Puerto Rican team Atleticos de San German, Sportnado reports.”

“Mayo started 18 of his 21 appearances with the team, though had his fair share of struggles, shooting just 39.0 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc. He also averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals. At 30 years old, he's still young enough to theoretically make an NBA comeback, but his performance with Atleticos de San German doesn't suggest any team will want to take the risk.”

Mayo's two-year suspension is up, making him eligible to play for an NBA team. He will have to prove himself again, though, before he gets another NBA contract.

Mayo had a promising rookie season when he posted remarkable averages of 18.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists. His numbers took a steady dip after his rookie season, but his stellar 3-point shooting (37.3 percent for his career) could give him a chance to return in today's 3-heavy NBA.
