The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Boston Celtics 117-103 on Monday night. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak that Milwaukee had just sparked, but the team also suffered a casualty. Forward Khris Middleton sustained a a knee injury in the loss to Boston. Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer provided an update on Middleton's knee ailment via ESPN.
That's better news than Bucks fans could have hoped for, especially when they saw Khris Middleton limping off the floor. The injury occurred when Middleton collided with Milwaukee teammate Rodney Hood as the two were on the move for a defensive rebound.
Middleton's leg buckled and the Bucks immediately committed a foul so the star forward could exit the game. Head coach Mike Budenholzer spoke on the injury after the game, saying that more information would be known as the team conducts tests, but that he's hopeful that the injury is not a long-term one.
Milwaukee, 18-11, has benefited largely from the steady presence of Middleton, who is averaging 17.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game this season. The two-time All-Star has missed time due to knee injuries in the past, so Bucks fans are probably holding their breath at the moment.
Still, given the comments of Budenholzer and Middleton's teammates, the Bucks forward should be considered day-to-day until the team provides more of an update. With games coming up against the Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans, the Bucks could afford to sit Middleton for a game to make sure the knee issue is behind him.
Bucks fans should stay tuned for updates on the status of Khris Middleton's knee, though it sounds like the veteran forward has avoided serious injury.
