With only two days to go before teams can either guarantee or waive players with non-guaranteed contracts, the Milwaukee Bucks have already made their decision on their young backup guard, Sean Kilpatrick. He confirmed via his Twitter account that he will continue his NBA journey this season with the Bucks.

The 28-year-old Cincinnati product went undrafted in the 2014 draft and spent more than a season in the G-League before receiving a call-up from the Minnesota Timberwolves and then the Denver Nuggets a year after. He went on to play for the Brooklyn Nets the past three years and was waived earlier this campaign. Fortunately for him, the Bucks did not waste time in picking him up from waivers leading to his guaranteed contract for the remainder of the season.

Kilpatrick has only suited up for five games so far this year and has averaged 5.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.0 minutes. However, his experience and ability to play both guard spots may come in handy for the Bucks especially with their need for more depth at those positions.

With his contract now slated to be guaranteed, Kilpatrick will have the opportunity to regain his old form when he was with the Nets from 2015-17 where he recorded his best numbers as a pro. He had his best run then and averaged 13.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 25.1 minutes per game. More importantly, it’s his chance to prove that he belongs to play at the highest level and set himself up for success in the coming years.
