Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is without a doubt one of the most popular players in the NBA today. However, despite his fame, not many folks know that the 25-year-old was actually well on his way to a Hollywood acting career long before he played his first minute in the NBA.

The Bucks star made his acting debut at 16 in an Australian film entitled “Dead Europe,” and we have the clip to prove it:

Okay, the whole Hollywood career was a gross exaggeration. As you saw in the clip, Giannis had only one line — which he nailed. Fun fact here is this was actually Giannis' own mother in the scene with him.

We sure are glad that the Bucks phenom chose basketball over a potential career in acting, though. Former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins seems to be in agreement:

All jokes aside, it would not be surprising if Giannis and his mother took on the cameo role here for the sole purpose of earning a little extra income. Antetokounmpo did not grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth, and this film was shot years before he ever made it big in the world of professional basketball.

The film's director, Tony Krawitz, explained to Patrick Casey of SB Nation's Bucks blog Brew Hoop how Giannis and his mother ended up in the film:

Well, as it turns out, their life experiences made them perfect fits for their roles, according to the film’s director, Tony Krawitz, who was kind enough to let me interview him over the past couple of days for this article.

Working with local casting agents, Krawitz said they “were hoping to cast a family who could play as refugees, yet seem normal and open-hearted.”

Ironically, Giannis might still end up in Hollywood in the not so distant future — not as an actor, though, but as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. L.A. will certainly do what it can to get Antetokounmpo on board, but the Bucks will do anything and everything in their power to ensure that their cornerstone superstar remains in Milwaukee.
