Now that his contract situation has been taken care of, Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield has one goal and that is to help the club make the playoffs this season.

The Kings haven't been to the postseason since 2006.

“I was just trying to plead my case with them, but that’s done now,” Hield said, via Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee. “I’m here as a King now and I’m just trying to win games and take us to the playoffs. That’s the focus now.”

Last season, Hield averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field, 42.7 percent from beyond the arc and 88.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Hield is part of the Kings’ core which is headlined by De’Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III, Harrison Barnes, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Harry Giles. It's going to be tough for Sacramento to clinch a playoff spot since the Western Conference is so rugged, but you never know what can happen in an 82-game season.

The Kings acquired Hield from the New Orleans Pelicans in the DeMarcus Cousins trade. Buddy would have entered restricted free agency next summer if he and the franchise didn’t agree to a deal.

GM Vlade Divac, Hield and the Kings are happy a deal was reached. Now, all sides can focus on basketball.
