The Chicago Bulls are having an abysmal season and are currently engaged in the Great Tank Race of 2018, trying their hardest to lose as many games as possible for an opportunity at one of the young studs in this summer's NBA draft.

But the Bulls also have plenty of young pieces that need to develop and build winning habits. That can sometimes be difficult on teams that are so obviously tanking for the future. Just look at all those terrible Philadelphia 76ers teams before they managed to get a few very good players in the draft.

But the message that Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg is trying to send his team right now is that no matter what happens, the team has to continue building good habits so it is set up well for the future, per K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

“With the way that our season is, the big picture, these guys are getting a great opportunity to play,” Hoiberg said. “You’ve got to keep playing all the way to the final horn. I don’t care what the score is. We’ve got to try to play the right way.”

Lately, it's been a question of effort for the Bulls. With only 11 games left on their schedule, Hoiberg called an intense practice to drive his point home, per Johnson.

“I don't care who's on the floor, the effort has to be consistent,” Hoiberg said. “And you have to hopefully get off to a good start, which earlier in the season was a strength of our team. We’ve got to find a way to get that back. I know we only have 11 games left, but we can't quit. We have to keep teaching. We have to get better.”

The Bulls have a future. They just have to play like they believe it.
