DeMar DeRozan joined the Chicago Bulls this offseason after signing a deal worth $85 million for three years. While the money may be a factor in his decision, the former San Antonio Spurs guard emphasized he has more reasons for choosing the Windy City franchise.

According to DeRozan, the prospect of playing alongside Zach LaVine really enticed him to join the Bulls. According to the veteran combo guard, he has been a big fan of the high-flyer since LaVine entered the league in 2014.

The 32-year-old also highlighted that he loved the idea of reuniting with his former USC teammate Nikola Vucevic. The two spent one season together in college, with DeRozan spending one season as a Trojan in 2008-09 and Vucevic staying there for three seasons from 2008 to 2011.

“The talent. Obviously great city. Great organization. The history behind it is definitely amazing. But for sure the talent. Looking at players like Zach. I’ve been a fan of Zach since he’s been in the league,” DeRozan said on his reason for joining the Bulls, per Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic.

“Just looking at the overall squad. Seeing Vucevic there, that was my teammate in college. So it’s been great.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how DeMar DeRozan will perform with more help alongside him in Chicago. Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic are both coming off from All-Star seasons, but the campaign ended in disappointment after they failed to make the playoffs.

With DeRozan in tow, hopes are high that they can get back to the postseason–something the Bulls haven't reached since 2017 when LaVine joined the team.
