The Chicago Bulls have started the season like many expected. They are 1-4 through five games, which is second from the bottom in the East, and will likely be in the running for a top pick in next year’s draft. In preparation for that likelihood, general manager Gar Forman will be making a trip to Europe in November to scout top European prospects, including teenage star Luka Doncic.

Luka Doncic, 18, recently won the EuroLeague’s October MVP award with Real Madrid, and also helped his home country of Slovenia win its first ever EuroBasket championship over the summer. He is widely considered the top prospect in Europe and is a potential top-five pick if he does declare for next year’s draft.

Doncic is the type of talented young wing the Bulls could desperately use. With Zach LaVine still out rehabbing from his torn ACL, the Bulls are relying on Justin Holiday to be their go-to scorer along the perimeter. Holiday leads the team with 15.6 shots per game but is shooting just 33 percent.

If the Bulls do end up drafting Doncic, he would form a promising young Euro core along with rookie Lauri Markkanen. The Finnish forward is having a strong start to his NBA career, averaging 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds while shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc in his first five games.
