Episodes 3 and 4 of ESPN's docuseries “The Last Dance” had new Chicago Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas “so emotional” that he decided to hire general manager Marc Eversley hours earlier than he planned to, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

Karnisovas planned to make the hire on Monday, but after watching these two episodes, he felt compelled to get the Bulls back on the winning front as soon as humanly possible, informing Eversley on Sunday night the job was his.

Karnisovas said his search was “extensive and diverse” and based on “many years of experience in the league” — noting Eversley worked “extremely hard to get where he is today.”

Most importantly, it seems that Karnisovas did his due diligence picking not only a minority candidate but one who aligns with his line of thinking:

“I will use a lot of his ideas,” said Karnisovas. “In many ways, his values are close to mine. We value inclusion of staff. We will emphasize transparency and communication. At end of day, we're both basketball junkies.”

The Bulls have revamped their front office after firing Gar Forman and rendering John Paxson as an advisor of the front office, away from any decision-making power. Karnisovas went to work quickly after he was hired, adding assistant GM J.J. Polk and soon after inking Eversley to be his right-hand man.

Eversley called the job “a dream come true” and noted things will soon change in The Windy City:

“We are going to establish a culture of winning in Chicago,” he said. “Everything starts and ends with winning. Our mindset will be about excellence day in and day out. Bulls fans, hear me when I say our ultimate goal is to bring a championship back to the city of Chicago.”

If this is anything like “The Last Dance,” the duo of Karnisovas and Eversley could be in for game-changing success if they can build a strong roster and execute a coaching overhaul.
