Speaking to reporters Monday after firing head coach Fred Hoiberg, Chicago Bulls vice president of basketball operations John Paxson confirmed that general manager Gar Forman's job is safe after rumors surfaced saying the same.

Forman has been with the Bulls since 2009. He won Executive of the Year in 2011, the season in which Derrick Rose won MVP, Tom Thibodeau was Coach of the Year and the Bulls had the best record in the Eastern Conference.

If you're a Bulls fan, this news shouldn't come as a shocker. Both John Paxson and Gar Forman have the job security many of us strive for. Through all the dysfunction that goes on in Chicago, Paxson and Forman are always safe from it. It never seems to be their fault. Instead, someone else takes the blame.

Forman and Paxson fired Thibodeau after Thibs had five successful years as the coach. Both men handpicked Hoiberg to be the next man in charge. We see how that move worked out.

Hoiberg signed a five-year deal with the Bulls in 2015 and is gone three-plus years later. Forman constructed a roster that didn't fit Hoiberg's uptempo style of basketball, putting the former Bulls coach in a tough spot. Yes, Hoiberg isn't suited to be an NBA coach, but Forman and Paxson didn't do him any favors with the roster they gave him.

Gar Forman and John Paxson should be under heightened scrutiny after changing coaches yet again, but it doesn't seem like any will come their way for the time being in Chicago.
