NBA 2K23 recently hosted an event promoting the new game. Players such as Jalen Green and Cade Cunningham were in attendance. However, there were plenty of influencers and celebrities at the event as well. Lil Durk made his way to the event and seemed to enjoy himself. I was able to catch up with him and ask about his early 2022-2023 NBA Finals prediction.
“Chicago Bulls,” he said.
Lil Durk is a Chicago native so his answer comes as no surprise. However, the team posted a strong 2021-2022 showing. And the Bulls may have been in store for a deep postseason run had injuries not hampered their season. So perhaps Lil Durk is on to something here.
The Bulls recently re-signed star Zach LaVine to a 5-year, $215.2 million dollar deal. Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan emerged as one of the NBA's best duos this past season.
LaVine averaged over 24 points per game to go along with 4.5 assists per contest. Additionally, he shot 39 percent from beyond the arc and just under 48 percent from the field. His efficiency was key for Chicago. And his pure athleticism consistently electrified Bulls fans.
DeMar DeRozan averaged just under 28 points per game and added 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. His veteran leadership is crucial for the team.
The decision to pair these two stars together once again was likely a no-brainer for the Bulls braintrust. If players such as Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Nikola Vucevic can stay healthy around Chicago's star-studded duo, Lil Durk may end up getting proven right next year.
