After taking part in one of the wilder games of this NBA season, Chicago Bulls guard Otto Porter Jr. is out for tonight’s game against the Atlanta Hawks.

According to head coach Jim Boylen, the official reason behind Porter sitting out is the usual “load management,” but the more likely reason behind it is simply that many players on the Bulls are exhausted after playing in a four-overtime game just two days ago.

The four overtime game, which was also against the Hawks, saw the Bulls eke out a 166-161 victory, and featured tons of highlights, mainly from rookie Hawks point guard Trae Young and the Bulls Zach LaVine, who scored 47 and was crucial in helping the Bulls come away with a win.

Currently, the Bulls find themselves near the bottom of the Eastern Conference once again, with a 18-45 record that will all but guarantee another top draft pick in the offseason. Though the team is bad now, they do have a promising young core, complete with players like LaVine, Porter, and Wendell Carter Jr., who is out for the season after suffering an injury earlier this year.

Coming into the game, Porter Jr. has played a bit under what many thought he would at the start of the season. While he is averaging 12.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2 assists (all career-highs) per game, his shooting numbers are down on the year, and after the Wizards dealt him in the offseason, he’s been trying to regain his composure and play on a struggling Bulls team.
