Following the news about the Chicago Bulls opting to start David Nwaba and Cristiano Felicio starting in their game on Thursday against the Philadelphia 76ers, it has now been reported that both Robin Lopez and Justin Holiday will not suit up for the team on the night, according to nick Friedell of ESPN.

Lopez is only one of three Bulls players who has started all 57 games so far for the Windy City team this year, but understanding their situation right now and knowing where they stand, it's definitely a big sacrifice for him to give up his spot and miss his first game of the season. It's no secret that the Bulls are not in contention to make it to the playoffs and head coach Fred Hoiberg may now be starting to give their younger players more playing time in order to gain a lot of experience.

With essentially nothing to lose at this point for the Bulls, sitting out two of their veterans could also help them by placing themselves in a better position in next June's draft. Along with the maturity Nwaba, Felicio could show together with their promising trio of Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen, having a blue-chip rookie next year will definitely speed up their rebuilding process.

However, it's also a huge risk to bench Lopez and Holiday, as it could lead to a lot of frustration from them and eventually request to be traded at season's end or even be bought out to seek opportunities with other teams. Their presence is very important as they serve as veteran locker room leaders for the Bulls, and an extension of the coaching staff as well.
