Golden State Warriors head coach and former Chicago Bulls guard Steve Kerr did not succumb to the pressure in the final seconds of Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals.

The Bulls and Utah Jazz were knotted at 86 apiece in the final minute when Chicago called timeout. Everyone in the building knew Michael Jordan would get the last shot, which is exactly why Jordan told Kerr to be ready to shoot.

Jordan explained he was sure Jazz point guard John Stockton would leave Kerr to come double Jordan on the ball, at which point Kerr would be left alone for the go-ahead jumper. Kerr, however, had a visceral reaction (via Logan Murdock of NBC Sports Bay Area):

“Hey, if [John] Stockton comes off, I'm going to pass you the ball,” the Bulls legend told Kerr.

A stunned Kerr had a hilarious reaction.

“I s–t my pants,” he told the Runnin' Plays Podcast. “No, I'm sorry. Am I allowed to say that?”

Despite the nerves, Kerr was ready.

Jordan received the ball out of a set play and was immediately swarmed as Stockton came to double. Jordan then swung the ball to Kerr at the foul line, and Kerr knocked down the jumper to give the Bulls an 88-86 lead. Chicago would steal the ensuing Jazz inbound, clinching their fifth championship in the process.

Kerr might have been terrified, though he evoked confidence. He told Jordan “If (Stockton) comes ff, I'll be ready.”

Steve Kerr was hardly a celebrated star like Michael Jordan or Scottie Pippen, but he was one of Chicago's crucial bench players during their second three-peat.
