The Chicago Bulls continued their impressive start to the campaign on Friday with a big win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Of course, it was a special night for Lonzo Ball, who was playing against his former team for the first time since the blockbuster trade this past summer.

Lonzo balled out, collecting 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a truly fantastic performance. Bulls star Zach LaVine had the perfect reaction to Zo's big night. Via NBC Sports Chicago:

“He had a little extra bounce in his step,” LaVine said. “Players know who the real ballers are, he affects the game in so many ways.”

While Ball showed out offensively, he was just as important on the other side of the floor. The former UCLA star showed huge defensive tenacity, making several key plays in the fourth quarter. While the Bulls guard was playing against his ex-team, he didn't hype it up a lot. Instead, Ball explained how he was thriving on the energy of the home crowd:

“Just it being the home opener, everyone is going to come out a little extra hyped. To me, it’s just coming in every game and wanting to win that game,” he said. “And trying to do the best I can to help my team win that night. That’s all it’s really about no matter who the opponent is.”

It's just two games, but Ball is proving to be a key piece of the Bulls. Let's hope he can keep it up.
