The NBA Summer League can sometimes be misleading, with many players that dominate in the tournament not finding a way to be effective in the league when the regular season begins. Philadelphia 76ers fans are hoping that their #1 pick Ben Simmons' summer performances are a sign of things to come, though.

Simmons’ entrance into the league has been long awaited, as he's been covered by the national media since he was a young teenager. Due to his playmaking ability, strength, and athleticism, he has drawn some lofty comparisons to future hall of famer and all-time great, LeBron James.

The comparison is not exactly something that Simmons should welcome, as being matched with one of the greatest players to play the game will only add unnecessary pressure while he develops.

Another rookie in Las Vegas, Chicago Bulls shooting guard Denzel Valentine, spoke to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk and Nick Friedell about the Simmons-LeBron comparisons.

“He’s like a mini-LeBron”, Valentine said. “LeBron’s probably top ten, so if he’s a mini-LeBron, that’s saying a lot.”

Simmons obviously has a long way to go to make it a fair comparison, but the incredible court vision that he is displaying in his first professional games is certainly noteworthy.
