Things have picked up drastically over the last few days concerning Paul George‘s future with the Indiana Pacers after he informed the organization over the weekend that he would hit the free agent market next summer.

This has put him front and center in the trade rumor mill with several landing spots arising in the process. In an interview on the HoopsHype podcast with Alex Kennedy, Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum voiced his desire for his team to acquire George.

“Besides Paul George? I think we have three first-round picks so we have some flexibility there to make some decisions. I think our organization is going to do whatever it takes to makes us get better. Players as individuals we have to develop and have to continue to take the time to work on our games over the summer time to refine, break down film on ways we can improve. That's what I'm doing. I'm taking the initiative myself as if we are not going to do anything. I have to get better and be a better player than last year.”

McCollum joins his teammate Damian Lillard in their public push for George to join the team as the All-Star guard recently took to Twitter to openly state his hopes of the Trail Blazers acquiring the 27-year-old.

Behind the play of their backcourt, Portland has become a playoff team in the stacked Western Conference over the last few seasons. The addition of George would help elevate them into one of the top-tier teams in the conference and a significant step closer to challenging the Golden State Warriors.

The Trail Blazers do possess three first-round picks in this year's draft sitting at 15th, 20th, and 26th respectively that could become attractive trade assets in a potential deal for George. On top of that, the Pacers are believed to want to get a deal done ahead of the draft on Thursday night.
