The Arizona Cardinals are falling off a cliff and looking for some rope to pull them up. They have lost three straight games after starting the season 10-2. The losing streak has seen them drop out of first place in the NFC West. The Los Angeles Rams are 11-4 and a game ahead in the division.

The Cardinals will square off Sunday against another 11-4 team, the Dallas Cowboys. If Arizona wants any shot at a home playoff game, they cannot afford another loss.

The week of practice did not get off to a great start for the Cardinals. Running back James Connor did not practice at all Wednesday. Their other tailback, Chase Edmonds, practiced in a limited capacity but is now dealing with a new injury.

It is not clear when Edmonds sustained the back injury. With James Connor inactive on Christmas, Edmonds took on a bell-cow type role. He handled 16 carries for 56 yards and a rushing touchdown. Edmonds also pulled down eight catches for another 81 yards.

The Cardinals have already lost Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for the season with a torn MCL. In his absence, Zach Ertz, Christian Kirk and Edmonds have been focus points for the offense.

Arizona can ill afford to be without another key player on offense vs. the Cowboys defense. Dallas is currently the #2 seed in the NFC standings and only one game behind the Green Bay Packers. So they are still playing to win despite clinching the division already.

Both Connor and Edmonds have two more days to get some more practice in before the final injury report is released.
