Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen suffered a toe injury on top of the insult they experienced in their 45-10 loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.

Rosen said after the game that he was “fine” despite going down and holding his left foot in the fourth quarter. However, it still looks as if there’s at least some reason for concern.

Per Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, Rosen is in a walking boot today and getting an MRI on his injured toe.

Rosen had a truly horrific night against the Broncos. He went just 21 of 39 for 194 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. But curiously, he was still out there late in the game despite Denver already sealing the blowout win.

Perhaps the walking boot was just a mere precaution, and the MRI will reveal no serious damage. The good news for the Cardinals is that their next assignment against the San Francisco 49ers is still in over a week from now, so those extra days off might just give Rosen enough time to fully recover.

When he does get back on the field, he’ll have a new offensive coordinator in Byron Leftwich, who was just promoted from his previous post as quarterbacks coach after the firing of Mike McCoy.

Hopefully, Leftwich can help get the best out of Rosen, who has had a rough go of things over his first handful of NFL starts. He’s currently completing just 55 percent of his passes for 820 yards with three touchdowns and five interceptions.
