In the last several days, there has been chatter around Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson's commitment to the franchise with his desire to be moved prior to the trade deadline on Oct. 30.

However, it appears that both sides have smoothed things over with ownership speaking with Peterson that has now reaffirmed his commitment to the franchise. The 28-year-old made that clear over social media with a post on Twitter where he voiced that he is ready for the challenge ahead to push the franchise back toward success.

Peterson has been a cornerstone for the franchise through his first seven-plus seasons with the franchise that he has spent all with the Cardinals since being taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He has developed into one of the best cornerbacks in the league throughout his career. He has earned this reputation over this career behind seven Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro nods. He has been a huge bright spot on the field this season that has provided an enormous amount of stability to their secondary as a stout defender that has taken up the challenge each week to matchup against the opposing team's best wide receiver.

His recommitment to the franchise gives them an anchor in the secondary that the Cardinals can build around for at least the next couple of years as his five-year, $70 million deal runs through the 2020 season. This decision by Peterson gives him the chance to take steps toward building a winner in the next two years if they hope to keep him around long-term. It also leaves the door open for him to ink a new extension during that stretch of time.

This 2018 campaign may already be a lost season, but the fact that they were able to avoid possibly losing their best defensive player is a huge positive moving forward.
