After a drama-filled offseason, Kyler Murray has finally gotten paid. The Arizona Cardinals quarterback just secured a five-year extension worth $230 million and $160 million in guaranteed money, making him the second-highest paid player in the entire NFL ($46.1 million per season) behind only Aaron Rodgers ($50.3 million per season).

Following the news, Twitter blew up over Murray's massive payday.

One reporter even made a joke that Kyler Murray could afford to buy the Oakland Athletics, the same MLB team that drafted him in the first round before he went to the NFL instead:

Murray was evidently at a standstill with the Cardinals in the past months over his contract situation and even wiped his social media of anything related to the organization. The signal-caller made it clear he wanted to be in Arizona long-term but the two sides struggled to come to an agreement. Needless to say, they finally figured things out.

Kyler Murray is undoubtedly one of the top QBs in the league and arguably the best dual-threat quarterback alongside Lamar Jackson. In 2021, he threw for 3,727 yards and 24 touchdowns while getting intercepted 10 times. Murray also rushed for 423 yards and five TDs as the Cardinals finished second in the NFC West behind the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, who beat them in the Wild Card Round.

Murray is locked in for the foreseeable future and will be hoping to take Arizona to the promised land. In three seasons with the Cards since being selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, he's compiled a 22-23-1 record.
