After getting let go by the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, Dennis Schroder has had a bit of a renaissance with the Boston Celtics. So when given the chance to exact revenge against his former team, nothing could stop the German point guard. Not even an injury could hold him back.

Speaking after the game, the Celtics point guard spoke about what motivated him to play in this game despite an ankle sprain. Here's what Dennis Schroder had to say about playing against the Lakers.

“Dennis Schröder says with a smile of playing through his ankle sprain tonight against his former team, ‘I had to be there for that one tonight, so I made it work.'”

Against his former team, Schroder balled out for the Celtics. In 34 minutes, he scored 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting, adding six rebounds and six assists. He was instrumental in the team's blowout win over the Lakers, who were playing with LeBron James for the first time in a while. It's nice to see Schroder prove his worth against his old team after the whole contract fiasco last offseason.

Dennis Schroder got destroyed on social media in the offseason as he asked for a huge contract from the Lakers. After a disappointing post-season, many fans felt it was ridiculous for the point guard to ask for that money. The Lakers also felt that way, as they didn't offer a contract to Schroder. In the end, he signed a smaller contract with the Boston Celtics, and he's proven he's worth more than what the Cs offered him.

It seems like his current organization has his back too! The Celtics broadcast savagely trolled the Lakers for their decision to let go of Schroder and replacing him with Russell Westbrook.
