Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg is a big fan of Kyrie Irving at the moment. Hoiberg believes the Boston Celtics star is playing the best out of all the point guards in the league right now.

Irving has been locked in since returning from a brief absence due to a facial fracture. He’s averaging nearly 27 points on 53 percent shooting from the field and 48 percent on three-pointers in his last 14 games. And apart from his outstanding offense, Irving is no longer the laughably bad defender he was in Cleveland.

With Irving leading the way, the Celtics have gone an impressive 11-3 during that span to maintain their lead top the Eastern Conference.

Unless James Harden counts as a point guard, it’s tough to see find another point guard who can disprove Hoiberg’s claim that Irving is the best one playing the position at the moment.

Stephen Curry might’ve been in contention, but he’s currently out with a sprained ankle. Reigning MVP Russell Westbrook is once again averaging a near-triple-double, but he’s been shooting an abysmal 37 percent through his last 20 games. Rookie Ben Simmons could also have an argument, although he still can’t dominate a game quite like Irving can with his scoring.

It was one of Irving's goals to be considered among the best players in the league when he decided to leave LeBron James' shadow in Cleveland. He's not quite the best yet with Harden and James having terrific years, but he's arguably the best at his position at the moment, which is a nice start.
