The entire Quicken Loans Arena was filled with a worried echo when Boston Celtics star Gordon Hayward suffered a gruesome injury that resulted to a dislocated ankle and a fractured tibia in their opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hayward was only a few minutes into his Celtics career when he landed awkwardly on the floor, causing his ankle to end up in a disfigured form enough to elicit pained reactions from spectators and fellow players alike.
The former Butler Bulldog underwent surgery and the latest news from his end, unfortunately, counts out a return this season, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
After surgery tonight, Boston's Gordon Hayward is unlikely to return this season, agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.

This puts a major dent to the Celtics’ bid this campaign after being highly-touted as potential replacements to the Cavs on the Eastern Conference throne. Brad Stevens will have to be very creative in motivating his team past this setback and pushing Kyrie Irving to break out quick after being handed the keys to the team.
Gordon Hayward’s camp remains steadfast on a forward-looking approach, promising a return to his old deadly form as soon as possible.
Bartelstein tells ESPN on Hayward: "We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form."
