The Boston Celtics suffered a bitter defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup. Marcus Smart gave his all in the loss and sustained a couple of painful-looking injuries that had Celtics fans nervous. Head coach Ime Udoka offered an update on Smart's status for the rest of the series following the pair of injuries he picked up in Game 1, via Jay King.

Smart only exited the game momentarily amid the shoulder and quad injury he suffered during the game. Udoka indicated that the leg injury seems to be impacting Smart more than the shoulder, but he still expects the veteran point guard to play through the ailments.

It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that Smart will aim to fight on through the knocks and remain out on the floor for the Celtics, especially given they dropped Game 1 at home. Smart showcased his toughness in Game 1, staying on the floor despite being in visible pain after suffering the injuries.

Despite him soldiering on, the Bucks' defense proved too much for Boston, as they simply suffocated the Celtics any time they tried to attack the paint. Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis combined to play impeccable interior defense that forced the Celtics to try to find their flow offensively from beyond the arc.

Smart finished the game with 10 points, 6 assists, 1 rebound, and 2 steals. He shot a rough 3-for-11 from the field and was just 1-for-3 from 3-point range while turning the ball over 3 times in the 101-89 defeat.
