Jaylen Brown has been named the 2024 Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP after the Boston Celtics finished off their sweep the Indiana Pacers on Monday with a 105-102 win.

Brown was the main offensive force in Game 4, scoring 29 points in Boston's comeback, and he led the Celtics in the series by averaging nearly 30 points per game.

But the voting was incredibly tight, as Brown's Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum received four votes to Brown's five.

Reactions are pouring in as Celtics fans seem to be as divided as the media was in who should win the award.

Michael Gallagher – “Jaylen was great but feel like Tatum should’ve won this. Some massive rebounds, passes and defensive plays all series. A couple questionable voter histories here, though.”

B. Aull – “I’m 1000% cooling with JB winning this but Bontemps voting for Butler in a losing effort in 2022 and now this is…welp, I can tell dudes rolling out of bed early to hate every day lmao”

Jonathan Von Tobel – “Unreal it was this close. Tatum didn’t have a case. It’s so lazy of these voters to vote for Tatum.”

Missy – “Were PJ, Dustin, John, and Dennis watching the same game?”

Cash – “How many of these people got hoop resume? Get more basketball people in basketball.”

Bagglio Ordonez – “People arguing, the edge is JB for game 1 shot and game 2 40 piece. Most efficient too JT was undeniably top playmaker, that pass to Horford end of game 3 being best example, super consistent on the glass, multiple clutch shots Knew Jrue wouldnt get voted but he deserved some”

Jack – “It was pretty easily Tatum imo but Jaylen deserved it as well, doesn’t really matter, just get 18.”

Raf – “Instead of giving media members the ability to vote for Celtics playoff awards they should just pick out 30 guys from Southie and let them fight for the chance to choose the award. Would be like a Bruins game but just the fun parts”

Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Celtics sweep Pacers to reach Finals

The Boston Celtics are coming out of the Eastern Conference NBA Playoffs picture for a chance to claim what would be their 18th Larry O'Brien trophy after they swept the Indiana Pacers.

Tatum and Brown were simply just too much for the Pacers to handle. In the final game, they both played 44 minutes. Tatum notched a huge double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds. He was also just two assists shy of recording a double-double to send the Pacers packing. Brown, meanwhile, led the Celtics in scoring with 29 points while also grabbing six rebounds.

The Celtics will face the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA Finals. Dallas currently leads that series three games to none.
