This is a crucial upcoming NBA season for Jayson Tatum. Many believe he underachieved last postseason with the Boston Celtics, succumbing to turnover problems and struggling from 3-point range against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. But there are plenty of people who appreciate what the 25-year-old has already accomplished, including an NFL Hall of Famer.

Tatum proudly showed off the new gift he received from legendary wide receiver Randy Moss on Instagram, which was a signed No. 84 Minnesota Vikings jersey. Moss personalized it with a nice message. “To Jayson Tatum… Game recognize game,” he wrote, via ClutchPoints. “HUGE FAN! Straight cash homie.”

That last part is the four-time All-Pro's iconic reply to a question about how he planned to pay an NFL fine that he incurred for pretending to moon Green Bay Packers fans in a 2005 playoff game. He has apparently carried the sound bite with him ever since. Tatum himself doesn't have to write checks, either, considering he is earning $32.6 million in 2023-24.

Moss set the single-season record for most receiving touchdowns in 2007-08 with the New England Patriots, but his tenure with the Vikings takes priority for many. Growing up in the Midwest (St. Louis, Missouri), Jayson Tatum was likely very familiar with the greatness of Randy Moss. He was only six years old when the wideout left Minnesota, but the legend's impact on football has persisted.

Tatum is clearly appreciative of the grand gesture and will have plenty of opportunities to impress Moss again this year. Garnering praise from someone considered one of the best to ever play their position shows how far the forward has come since the Boston Celtics drafted him in 2017.
