As a member of the 2008  NBA Finals-winning side, Kendrick Perkins may have a hot take or two on how the Boston Celtics are performing as of late. Most of them are positive due to the strong play they are showing, though he reserved his highest praise for Marcus Smart.

The Celtics guard is a key component of the team, as his offensive and defensive efforts helped the Celtics become third overall in the Eastern Conference. His hustle and all-around play makes him the perfect Celtic in Perkins' eyes.

In fact, Perk even made the bold claim that Smart could play and be a quality asset for any era of the Celtics. He spoke out on his Twitter account about how incredible a player Marcus is.

“Marcus Smart’s heart, tenacity, and pride is Celtics to the core. From Bird to Russell to the Big 3 era, he would’ve been able to fit in with any Celtic team in history.”

This season has been the most productive Smart has been in his six-year career. He's averaging 12.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists, 1.6 steals on 37.7 percent shooting. He's increasingly getting more starts under Brad Stevens' system and is becoming more vital of a presence for the Cetlics with each and every game.

Marcus Smart steps up whenever Kemba Walker or Jayson Tatum are out or underperforming, and his versatility is making him a top option for the Cs.

The Celtics will be in a bad place without Smart in their team. He'll definitely be a key player for Boston if they ever manage to make it to the Finals by June.
