Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving is a little lighter in the wallet after the NBA announced their decision to fine him $25,000 for throwing the basketball into the stands, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

Irving was angry that Jamal Murray took a 3-pointer at the buzzer when the Denver Nuggets had already put the game out of reach. Murray was at a career-high 48 points when he launched the deep, uncontested 3, presumably to go above the elusive 50-point mark.

Kyrie and the Celtics didn't take too kindly to the shot, so Irving decided he wouldn't give Murray the satisfaction of keeping the ball. Naturally, the Celtics star launched the ball into the crowd where Murray would never have the chance to recover it and commemorate his incredible night.

Irving is partially justified in his actions, but he had to know a fine was coming. Fans love to see this type of competitiveness and animosity between teams, but the league had to take disciplinary action against Irving. Murray technically didn't do anything wrong. The shot definitely broke the unwritten rules of basketball. Any player knows you aren't supposed to take that shot at the buzzer when your team has a big lead.

That being said, the league can't and won't fine Murray for taking that shot. Kyrie Irving got his own little bit of justice for it, but now the only thing the Celtics can do is wait for their next opportunity to take down Jamal Murray and the Nuggets.
