Marcus Smart has noting but praises for his new Boston Celtics teammate Kemba Walker, whom he said reminds him a little bit of ex-teammate and now Washington Wizards guard Isaiah Thomas.

In an interview with Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Smart admits that he's impressed by Walker's scoring ability despite standing just 6-foot-1. On top of Walker's supreme individual skills, Smart believes that he's a perfect fit for Brad Stevens' system in Boston.

“We had a little guy like that, similar to that on our team in Isaiah Thomas. It’s kind of funny some of those little guys that can score the ball, they have an energy and a motor about them you don’t see very often.

“(Walker) definitely fits to what Brad envisioned for us and what we thought he would do for us coming to the team,” Smart said.

After Walker inked a four-year, $141 million over the summer, he was automatically seen as Kyrie Irving's replacement. Some were not pleased with the acquisition, noting that Walker is not on the level of Irving's talents.

Whether their early criticisms turn out true or not is a matter of wait and see. But judging from Smart's experience while playing with Walker in the FIBA World Cup, things are looking just fine. Given that there are four Celtics players on Team USA, the chemistry issues that hounded them last season can be ironed out even before the 2019-20 season begins.
