Trae Young's dad, Ray Young, just dropped one of the best, most interesting and hilarious stories about his son's journey to the NBA. Surprisingly, it involves former Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge and head coach Brad Stevens.

On Twitter, the Young patriarch shared a photo of a teenage Trae with Stevens and Ainge that he took in 2013. On the caption, Mr. Ray shared how he told the two to watch out for his kid going to the NBA, only to receive that “Sure dad, just take the pic already” look.

For what it's worth, Trae's dad clarified that his son got some inspiring words from the two Celtics figures.

On the replies section of the tweet, former Celtics big man and current TV analyst Brian Scalabrine revealed that both Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens had high praises for Trae Young heading to the 2018 Draft. While he admitted that he thought the Atlanta Hawks guard was too small, he's more than happy to be proven wrong.

“They both told me he was special before the draft. I thought he was too small and that is why they are the best and I’m just the white mamba,” Scalabrine commented.

Ray Young did not deny the assessment about Trae's physique, which is why he is thankful the Hawks saw past that and recognized the talent in front of them.

This is certainly a fun story and goes to show how Trae Young has grown and evolved into a true superstar. From taking photos with Ainge and Stevens to dominating the Celtics and the rest of the East, Ice Trae has really gone a long way–and he's just 22 years old!

Hopefully, Mr. Young shares more epic stories about his son as Trae continues his ascension in the NBA.
